Hassan is a postdoctoral scholar at the Market Shaping Accelerator (MSA). His research studies the informational externalities of policymaking with applications to topics in applied theory and political economy. His current agenda studies how firms’ and leaders’ image concerns shape policy experimentation, the supply of information to consumers and voters, and the optimal design of media platforms. His work combines economic theory—particularly insights from information design—as well as empirics—including techniques in text analysis. Hassan additionally conducts research on the evolution of productivity growth in the US macroeconomy, and is also interested in how historical conditions affect the emergence of market institutions. Hassan holds a PhD in Economics from Princeton University and a BA from Northwestern University.
